OK, I’m normally not one to complain… I understand how business works, what you can do, what you can’t… I have an M-Audio Prokeys 88 Stage Piano… that used to work… it stopped working on February 2… and appears to be a pre-amp problem… I get hold of M-Audio tech support… their very first question is when did I buy it… I tell ‘em it’s just a smidge over a year old… (bought in November of 2005)… Response comes back. Sorry, out of warranty.

OK, I understand that… sometimes things just happen to break right after the warranty runs out… so I say… How can I fix it? Where in Colorado can I get it fixed?

The reply from M-Audio is… it will be too expensive to ship it back to us to repair, we suggest you get it fixed locally… OK, duh… WHERE locally can I get it fixed? YOU GUYS MAKE THE THING… YOU OUGHT TO KNOW WHO CAN FIX IT! No answer… 15 days now, and no reply.

At the same time, I have a Yamaha DX-7 that I bought brand new in 1986…. still has the original BATTERY and has graced at least a few hundred stages and traveled several thousand miles in vans, pickups, station wagons and sports cars… IT STILL WORKS GREAT! and if it DOES break, Yamaha will give me contact information on who can fix it.

I have a Korg Lambda that’s coming up fast on it’s 40th birthday. Everything still works like brand new.

I like the Prokeys 88… the sound (when it was working) and the action are exceptional… it’s as heavy as a house, but oh, well… so are my T40 bass and my Les Paul…

I just want to know where I can get the frigging thing fixed without having to pay a gazillion dollars in shipping.

Quack!
